We have been investigating sound in Science. We understand that sound is created by vibrations. We created some cup and string devices and measured the sound using a Data Logger. We know that sound is measured in decibels (DB). 

We have been experimenting with oil and chalk pastel techniques. We have used tissue paper, ear buds, our fingers and layering over the top. We have thought carefully about colour families. 

We enjoyed reading our class read today. The children also volunteered to read aloud to each other. We can’t wait to continue reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

Class 3 have completed their Christmas Stockings. They have designed, cut out and sewn their creations. We are so proud of all their hard work and how their skill level has improved. 

We have welcomed some ladies from our community into Class 3 today to support our children with their sewing. 

We are very proud of the progression of sewing skills. The children managed to embroider a shape onto felt as well as appliqué a shape. Some children even sewed a sequin on.

Today in Class 3 we tried our hands at sewing. Some of us had sewn before but for some of us it was the first time ever! We needed to thread our needles ourselves, which was quite fiddly. We learnt about running stitches, back stitches, over stitches and zigzag stitches. It was quite tricky but we…

Today we all came in our odd socks as part of our anti-bullying week. We talked about how we are all different and special in lots of way. We enjoyed listening to a story called ‘Odd Dog Out’ by Rob Biddulph. 

Today in Science we categorised materials into solids, liquids and gases. We all loved the ice balloon that Mrs Walmsley made! 

We have been busy designing a piece of art work that will light up. 

Today we painted a canvas ready to put a circuit in to light it up. We are very excited. 

We have enjoyed investigating how shadows are formed when an object blocks light. We discussed how the object must be opaque or translucent in order for a shadow to form.
