We’ve been learning about Traditional tales this week and have enjoyed reading Little Red Riding Hood. This afternoon we’ve been looking at ‘sequencing’ our story.

This morning the children made a fantastic start on their Clarice Cliff plates.  They put all of their colour mixing skills to use and began their designs.  

In our RE topic this term, we are thinking about the question, Why is God so important to Christians. Today we discovered that to Christians, God is a VIP! We talked about what it means to be a VIP and shared who are our VIPs.

We have started our computing sessions by learning about online safety. We began by watching a video about the ‘spaghetti tree’ in Switzerland that had a bumper crop! We were intrigued to learn more about this but then discovered it was a prank! It highlighted how easy it is to spread fake news…

This afternoon the children discussed ways of making a fair test and set about testing which material was the bounciest! They rolled various balls of different materials down the ramps and measured the rebound to determine the winner! 

Class 1 have had an lovely autumn exploration this afternoon around our beautiful school grounds to tick off the first signs of autumn.  The children used their amazing sense of sight and spotted orange, brown and red leaves, mushrooms, berries and sweet chestnuts.

We have been investigating shadows in Science. We positioned the torch at different distances from a whiteboard and marked where the shadow reached. We drew conclusions from our investigation that the further away the torch was, the bigger the shadow.  We will continue to investigate shadows next…

We have been experimenting with evaporation, in Class 4. We boiled salt water to separate the solid from the liquid.

We have been learning about the famous Austrian architect Hundertwasser.

The children have been building on their knowledge of primary and secondary colours, creating hues of green and experimenting with shades by adding white to their hues. There was some really thoughtful colour placement and shade variation in their work.

This morning we learnt a Harvest poem and creating art work to share at the Harvest service as we read the poem next week in church.
