Similes and metaphors
Whilst studying different poetry skills this week, we have looked at the use of similes and ,metaphors. We had a go at describing ourselves using these 2 skills. Can you guess which child each short poem is describing?
French weather reports
The children have worked together in French to write their weather report. They chose a city from the map of France and used a model to prepare their weather forecast, practising the weather expressions they have been learning this half term. Super work, Bon travail!
Opaque and transparent
This afternoon the children explored the properties different materials to determine which would be best to block out light from the sun, on a nasa rocket.
Bringing our stories to life through music!
Today the children brought their stories to life with their chosen instruments. It was wonderful to hear how through their choice of instruments and method of delivery, they were able to tell their stories.
Painting at the Canal
Class 3 have had a trip out to the canal to observe and paint it.
We took our sketch books, watercolour palettes and brushes then set ourselves up on the grass. We observed the landscape and applied our taught skills to our final pieces of artwork for this watercolour art unit.

Watching our caterpillars grow.
Class 1 have been very excited to see their caterpillars develop into cocoons. First of all the caterpillars climbed to the top of the cup and hung in a J shape. Then they shed their exoskeleton for the final time before they became cocoons. It took about 2 days for the cocoons to harden up. We…

Councils Church Gardening
Our school councils have been helping in the gardens of St Steven’s church to plant flowers and make the gardens look lovely. They did a great job.

Looking after our grounds
Inspired by David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday celebrations, we went outside to care for our planet by litter picking the field and watering the crops.
Outdoor painting
This afternoon we took our art lesson outside to put our skills to the test by painting the sky. We talked about colour mixing, tones, shades, brush strokes, abstract concepts and artistic license. They all created beautiful pieces that embodied everything we have learnt this term.
Exploring subtraction!
This week in maths we have been exploring addition and subtraction by answering the question ‘how many now?’.
This morning, we took our maths work to our outdoor area and used the natural resources to help us find the answer to some subtraction number sentences we found in the environment.
