Investigating surfaces in Science
We have learnt about John McAdam in Science. He was a Scottish engineer who modernised the way we build our roads. We investigated lots of different surfaces using toy cars and Newton Meters. We reflected on what properties made a successful road.
Active maths, multiples of 2
Year 3 braved the frosty weather for Maths today! They were recognising multiples of 2, completing a series of counting tasks and missing number activities outside.
Throwing and catching skills in PE
Today we practised our bowling skills, comparing over arm and under arm bowls. We also perfected our catching skills, thinking about the position of our feet and hands so we can be ready to move quickly in any direction to catch.
Classification of Leaves in Science
In Science we have been learning about Living things and their Habitats.
We explored our grounds and collected a range of leaves. We identified which trees they were from and then categorised them with a range of questions.
Boccia
PE today was Boccia - a precision sport similar to bowls. The children had to really concentrate and have a steady hand!
Mini Beast Hunt in Science
We have been learning about invertebrates and vertebrates in Science. We investigated the habitats around our school grounds and found lots of extra members of Anson! We then categorised them into vertebrates and invertebrates. Great hunting Class 3!
Ordering numbers on a number line
Today we started Active Maths. We estimated where different numbers cards went on each numberline, up to 1000 for Y3 and up to 10,000 for Y4.
How can we be a steward of God’s world?
This was the question we answered in RE today after looking at some of the things God created in our outdoor classroom. We came up with things such as Litter picking, not wasting water, giving to the poor and planting more trees.
New start for the outdoor area
Between the heavy rain showers, Class 3 have worked hard to gather the last of the vegetables (mainly beans and tomatoes) and pick the many weeds from the beds so they are clear for Winter. Great teamwork children!
Trim trail treat
Since it is nearly the end of the year we had an extended break on the Trim Trail today!
Trim trail time!
Today Y2 and Y3 played together on the new trim trail. The children all agreed it was great exercise.
Lots of weeds!
Year 3 children dug some HUGE weeds from the beds today! There’s now much more room for the plants we want to spread and grow.
