Sports Day 2025
An excellent morning was had by all today! Yellow were the victors but the team work, encouragement and resilience shown by all children was what made us the most proud today.
Sports Day practise
Today we enjoyed practising the different races we will be competing in at Sports Day next week.
Pilgrimage
Our new focus in RE is ‘Pilgrimages’. Today we focused on the journey made by many Christians to Lourdes each year. We compared a pilgrimage to finding your way through a labyrinth, like the one found in Chartres Cathedral near Lourdes. We went outside and drew our own labyrinth to walk through,…
PE with Class 4
This afternoon the children who were in school from Class 3 and 4 joined together to play a big game of rounders! It was great for the older children to give the younger ones some tips!
Boccia tournament
Some of Class 3 took part in a Boccia tournament against St Mary’s. Boccia is a sport using precision to roll balls at a target and see who can stop the closest. Everyone did very well! The final score was very close, 27-30 to Anson.
Planting 2025!
Today we had some help from some parent volunteers to organise our vegetable patches! We planted lots of seeds, amongst them tomato, lettuce, carrots and green beans, and we are hoping to see some of them grow before we break up for the Summer holidays! Thank you to our kind volunteers for…
Stilling in our lovely grounds
Today we did some 'noticing' outside. We reflected on what we were grateful for, what had stood out in our day, where we had been our best selves and any small changes we could make to balance our lives.
As we reflected, some greenflies and a caterpillar came to greet us. We felt very…
Andy Goldsworthy inspired artwork
We have started our Art unit on Sculptures today. We looked at the artist Andy Goldsworthy and how he uses materials found in nature to create his art pieces. We created our own pieces of art work in his style by exploring our school grounds.
Planting potatoes
Today some of our class spent some time in the outdoor classroom planting potatoes.
Orienteering round 2
Today we completed another orienteering course, the time working independently to record the letter placed at each coloured check point.
Story time in the sunshine
We enjoyed eating the jam tarts, that we made in Design and Technology, in the sunshine. Mrs Walmsley read a book called ‘Shh! We have a Plan’ by Chris Haughton. We enjoyed our relaxing time together.
Orienteering
Today we completed our first orienteering course in PE. We used a map of the school grounds to navigate our way to retrieve the markers identified on the maps. We worked in teams to find the quickest way to complete the course without missing out any check points.
