Image of Curtains for our rocket!

Today in science we carried out a comparative test to see which material would be best to stop the sun from glaring in astronaut’s eyes whilst they sleep.

Using a torch to represent sunlight, we tested different materials including card, glass, transparent plastic and opaque plastic.

We decided that opaque plastic would be the best, and safest, material to use to make curtains for our astronauts.

We decided that glass would be the worst material to use to make curtains for our astronauts because it is completely transparent and therefore wouldn’t block out any sunlight and would be unsafe if broken during flight.
