Lunar New Year

This week we have been celebrating the Lunar New Year.

We have learnt how to write our name using Chinese symbols, created a Chinese Restaurant in our home corner, where we looked at chinese takeaway menus, used chopsticks, ordered and paid at the till and prepared the food. The children even turned a part of our roleplay area into the a car to deliver the chinese takeaways. We acted out the Zodiac New year Race, completed some Chinese New year themed maths, made dragon masks, watched the lion dances and then created our own dance using masks and instruments to make the music of a lion dance.
