Topic - World War 1

We have started our new History topic all about the First World War. We looked at the significance of the poppy flower in commemorating the war each year and why a poppy was chosen as a symbol of peace and hope for the future. We then created our own poppies from a variety of art materials to display in class. Mrs Hayward was surprised by the amount of children who had family members who served in WW2 or ancestors with a connection to the war.
