That’s not my rocket!
The children tested their sense of touch today as they felt different fabrics and tried to match them to the ones on our feely board. Then we took our learning outside and described why ‘that’s not my rocket’ as we found different materials to make its body out of.
Sikhi meditation
The children had a wonderfully calming R.E. Lesson this afternoon, learning all about the importance of meditation in the Sikhi faith.
Watercolour wash
In art, we have been learning how to create a watercolour wash to look like water. We used our big brushes for this and thought hard about the shadows.
We then added a detailed tree into our picture using a small brush.
We did lots of colour mixing in our palette.
Colour wheels
We’ve been learning all about primary and secondary colours this afternoon. We painted our colour wheels, mixing our own secondary colours!
Our visit to explore St Stephens
This afternoon, Class 1 had such a lovely visit to St Stephen’s. Father Neale kindly showed us all the different features of a church and showed us what happens at the altar and font during some services. We also got to sit in the pews where our grown ups normally sit.
Father Neale also…
Caring for our plants
With all of the warm, sunny and dry weather we have had recently, it is important we water our newly planted fruit and vegetables.
Exploring teen numbers in the sunshine!
This afternoon, we enjoyed our maths session in our outdoor classroom. We have been exploring the teen numbers 11, 12 and 13 this week and noticing how teen numbers are made up of 1 ten and then a certain number of 1’s.
Today each child was given a number up to 13 and asked to go and get…
Enjoying the sunshine
Today we had our afternoon brain break outside on the Trim Trail, to make the most of this beautiful weather.
Class Worship
Our school value this half term is ‘compassion’. We talked about how St Maximilian Kolbe showed this during his life helping the poor and sick. We also shared two Bible stories showing compassion; The Good Samaritan and Jesus helps the leper.
History-Queen Elizabeth I
Today we’ve been learning all about Queen Elizabeth I and life in Tudor times. The children made masks of Queen Elizabeth I, King Henry VIII and a jester!
Science-materials hunt!
The children enjoyed scouring the playground in search of objects made from various materials on their list. They used a tally chart to record their findings and compared their results with each other once back in class. We have some very good scientists in the making!
Science - Caterpillar Life Cycles
Class 1 were learning all about lifestyle cycles today in our Science lesson. The children then made their own lifecycle of a caterpillar. We are all very excited to watch our class caterpillars go through their life-cycle. The children made predictions of what would happen next.
