We have started our computing sessions by learning about online safety. We began by watching a video about the ‘spaghetti tree’ in Switzerland that had a bumper crop! We were intrigued to learn more about this but then discovered it was a prank! It highlighted how easy it is to spread fake news online. We have looked at fact vs opinion so we are aware that not all things published online are facts, some things are a persons opinion which may be different to ours. We talked about permission and how we must ask for this before sharing personal information with other people. We have also looked at emotions we may feel when using ICT, the highs such as chatting with friends or playing a game but also the lows such as someone using unkind words. Most importantly we know who we can talk to if we are worried about anything online.
