Our maths learning this week in Class 1 has been about exploring shapes by manipulating and rotating shapes for different purposes and playing the shape barrier game. The children have loved all the activities and have been using their new vocabulary brilliantly.
In the provision and our small maths group work, the children have been using the tangram shapes to create fantastic in pictures and complete animal pictures. they all worked carefully to determine how the shapes needed to be manipulated and rotated to create the different animals.
Today, the children used their fantastic 3d shape and positional language knowledge to create an identical shape arrangement using 3d shapes. All the children loved sitting behind the barrier and listened very carefully to the instruction Mrs Philp gave them about where to place each As brilliant to see that when the barrier was pulled back, everyone’s 3d shape arrangement matched Mrs Philp’s!
