What a brilliant time Class 1 have had meeting all of Stella’s animals during our Farm on Wheels visit this morning.  The children all listened brilliantly to Stella about each animal and shared their amazing knowledge too.

Everyone loved meeting Racket, the donkey and finding out how to tell a difference between a donkey and horse. Class 1 remembered that Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and they loved hearing about the cross markings found on some donkeys.

Feeding and walking Barry, the lamb, was such fun but Barry was so strong when he drank his milk and when walking. We had to be careful we didn’t drop the bottle or let go of his lead. We loved how he showed us how happy he was drinking his milk by wagging his tail really fast. We were able to meet and stroke two other sheep called Marvin and Marble. We found out about their fleeces and when they are sheared and talked about what their fleeces are used to make.

Next we met Flame and her chicks and we were able to stroke on of her chicks, see the cheeks beautiful wing feather and help mix up the feed for Flame and her chicks. They were very pleased to get their breakfast!

After we had seen the chickens, we met Marmalade and her babies. Stella told us that baby rabbits are called kits and then allowed us all to hold and stroke one of the kits called Fluffy. Fluffy was so soft and tiny.

The last animal Stella introduced to us was a gorgeous guinea pig called Oreo. Again all the children were allowed to stroke and see Oreo up close.

At the end of the visit, all the children remembered that we needed to wash our hands really well as we had been touching all the animals. We came back into class and sang a song to make sure we spent the right amount of time cleaning our hands.

We are so proud of how well the children listened, how careful they were with all the animals, how polite they were and how they asked some fantastic questions. Well done Class 1!
