Exploring length and height

Class 1 have been incredibly busy this week exploring height and length during our maths sessions and in our independent learning. The children have had a great time exploring how long, tall and short different items are within and outside of our classroom and worked together to order items by height or length either individually or with their friends. 

The children have had lots of fun building tall and short towers and overcome the issue of the towers toppling over by building secure bases to build them on. Knocking down the towers has been fun too!

Making paper chains of different lengths has been a very popular activity and we’ve had paper chains as long as the table and as tall as Mrs Philp!
