Carp kites!
In D&T this afternoon we did some more work on our carp kites. We talked about the Japanese meaning behind the carp, that of courage and strength and how in Japan the children make them for Children’s Day and hang them outside their houses.
English-story sequencing
Today we had a practical lesson after re reading our story. The children then worked in groups to order the sequence of events from our class read ‘Stuck’.
Art and Crafts club - batik
This lunchtime we did a take on batik, using our wax crayons to create an image that would resist the ensuing paint! The results were beautiful 🤩
Music with Mrs Rock
The children enjoyed a lovely music session with the fabulously talented Mrs Rock this morning. They focused on finding the beat, copying rhythm and recognising then beating out the syllables in their names.
Show and Tell
We were extremely fortunate in ‘show and tell’ this afternoon as Louis brought in a real antler found on Cannock Chase. The children were enthralled to learn all about deer and to be able to touch a real antler!
Spelling Bee
Wow! What a close contest we had this afternoon when we were joined by St. Mary’s and All Saints for the KS1 Spelling Bee. All the children were fantastic but Class 2 managed to beat the competition and win the trophy! Incredible amounts of hard work, courage and composure culminated in an Anson…
Art and Crafts club
This lunchtime we made positive affirmation rosettes. We celebrated our qualities and wore our affirmations with pride.
Keeping cool
We’ve been lucky enough to spend lots of time outside in the shade today, keeping cool by dipping our feet in cool water and reading our story under the trees. One of our class is celebrating their birthday today and very kindly brought ice lollies in for us all to share! They were very gratefully…

Twycross Zoo
What a wonderful day we had at the zoo! We saw so many wonderful animals, from tigers to turtles, penguins to primates, we even saw a Gruffalo!
DT - making carp kites
Today we started making carp kites. The children did a fantastic job sticking on all their scales!
Science-is it waterproof?
Today we explored materials to discover if they were waterproof. We made predictions based on our prior knowledge, then experimented to see if we were right or not!
