In maths this week, Class 1 have been exploring 1 more and 1 less than numbers up to 5 and enjoyed practising their skills by collecting planets and throwing snowballs!

On Wednesday, we had fun finding one more than the number rolled with our large dice. The children practised their subitising skills and catching the correct number of planets to match the number rolled using our fantastic wooden tweezers. They then showed one more than the number they rolled by collecting another planet.

Today, we have explored the concept of one less using snowballs to help. Again the children rolled a dice and subitised the number rolled. The children then collected the correct number of snowballs and then threw one snowball away to show one less. The children then practised either their number recognition skills or number formation skills to show how many snowballs they had left.

What amazing math skills Class 1 have shown us this week - I wonder what they will show us tomorrow!
