The Lonely Christmas Tree

To finish our English units for this term class 2 have been looking at a lovely little festive poem called ‘The Lonely Christmas Tree’.

The children have been refining their reading skills by making predictions about the text prior to reading it, retrieving key information and looking at the vocabulary used within the poem.

They even had the chance to read and perform the poem, in segments, to the rest of the class focusing on the way they use their voice to emphasise different vocabulary within the poem, and create an atmosphere appropriate for the style of poem we have been reading.
