What a fantastic time we have had in phonics this week. Today, we were finding out about words with more than one syllable. We talked about how we need to listen carefully to hear how many syllables words have and we explored how many syllables our names had by clapping the syllables in our names. Some names in Class 1 had one syllable and we had one name with four syllables. I wonder if you can find out whose name has four syllables in it!
We then played a game of hide and seek with some words and when we found a word, we had to read the word and find out how many syllables it had. Everyone used their phonics fantastically and could clap the syllables in their words. We then hide our word in a new hiding place for our friends to find.
Fantastic phonics work Class 1!
