Diwali!

This week in nursery we have been looking at the festival of Diwali. The children have made rangoli patterns using loose parts, created Mendhi patterns using paint and fine brushes, made their own Diya lamps from air dry clay,  and decorated them with sparkly gems. They helped cook samosa, rice and poppadom's and enjoyed them at snack time along with mango chutney. 

They also had a very special visit from Staffordshire council refuse collectors who came along on Thursday to show the children how they collect all the rubbish and what happens to it once it is collected on the truck. They had a great morning and did super well listening and asking questions.
