Image of Emperor Claudius

In History, we have been learning about why the Emperor Claudius decided to invade Britain in 43AD. We discovered that he was not very well respected and that he had many disabilities, but that didn't stop him from trying to become better than Julius Caesar who failed to invade Britain, twice!

The children pretended to be FOR or AGAINST the invasion and acted as advisors to the emperor (played brilliantly by Penny) and tried to persuade him. Team FOR won!

The main reasons we discovered were for resources (tin, gold, precious metals and slaves), land for crops, to take revenge on the Britons for helping Rome's enemies in battle and to grow the empire. Claudius also invaded to prove his doubters wrong and to improve his reputation - doing what the famous Julis Caesar couldn't. Well done, Class 3
