Signs of Winter

Today we have been looking for signs of winter. The trees are very bare however we spotted some tiny buds just beginning to show on our apple trees in the orchard. There were a few apples left which we noticed have some little holes in - we think the birds have been pecking into them as food is quite scare for them in winter. 
We checked our compost heap and think there could be some tiny creatures hibernating in there. 
We look forward to spotting signs of spring coming soon.
