On Friday Class 2 had their Maths lesson in the outdoor classroom. Year 1 children played a game in a circle with Mrs Hayward. When Mrs Hayward threw the ball, someone had to catch it and count backwards from the number given, back down to 0. They then paired up and played the same game with a 12 sided dice. Finally, the children built a rocket, stacking the numbered cubes on top of each other starting with 10, all the way to 0, before their rocket could blast off!
The Year 2 children worked in pairs to find natural resources such as conkers, acorns, sticks, leaves etc that could be tens and ones on their place value board. They arranged their materials and counted and recorded how many tens and ones they had, then what number that made. Everyone agreed it was really fun and we will be having another Maths lesson outside next week!
