Today we used ingredients very similar to what the Anglo Saxons would have had available to bake and decorate shortbread. The only flavouring was the honey and the only decoration was using a fork to make patterns. The Anglo Saxons ate very simple foods, things they could hunt or forage for but these shortbreads tasted delicious!
