We have learnt about British designer W B Wilkinson who in 1853 came up with the idea of setting steel bands within concrete to make it much stronger. We looked at all the amazing concrete buildings that are around the world. We particularly liked the tallest bridge in the world which is found in France called Millau Viaduct.
Using newspaper, we put our designer skills to the test and created our own bridges that had to hold a dictionary at least 3 cm off the table! We had lots of fun using different techniques such as rolling and folding to reinforce the newspaper. Lots of masking tape was used!
